February 24th, 2010Crafts To Do With Kids On Christmas Eve?
My family has company coming over for Christmas Eve, staying until Christmas night! There will be 4 kids ages 8, 10, 11 and 12. I’m looking for something we can all do together as a craft. It has to be easy and it has to keep the kids’ attention. Doesn’t HAVE to be Christmas related, but it would be nice!

If you can paint (green) some small puzzle pieces ahead of time and cut some circles about 3 1/2 inches in diameter from file folder thickness paper or cardboard, the puzzle pieces can be glued to the circle in about three layers. Makes unique wreaths, especially if you then paint small red dots on the wreaths with a dull wooden toothpick and red acrylic paint. Can be hung as ornaments when dry, or glue a magnet to the back. Smaller circle in the middle of the 3 1/2 inch circle leaving an opening in the center works best.

well i,m 12 i cuzzin 8 ,9 and my brother 10 my ant had this cool were make the oddments for the tree just go a crant store and get all kinds of stuff that you could make and put them on the tree hope i helped

Stained Glass Cookies are a lot of fun and easy. You’ll need Jolly Rancher Candies and Sugar Cookie dough ( you can buy the tube if you want) If you buy it premade, just slice as directed then use a small cookie cutter to cut a hole in the middle of the cookie slice. Crush the jolly rancher candies and sprinkle into the center of each cookie. Bake as directed on the package or in recipe. Remove from the cookie sheet while still warm.

I got my two cousins some fabric markers, patches and a blank canvas tote a piece. I also picked up a make your own Christmas card kit.

If you have access to a flat rooftop or upstairs landing then thumb-tack one meter square area with aluminum foil. Next, frame with timbers pre-cut to fit once laid and border all foil.
Explain to the children they will have to wait until next Chrismas before they can take turns pushing a magnet all
over the foil for the purpose of collecting powdered ores of
meteors that fell from the stars upon your aluminum collector.

When my kids were little now are 21 and 16 I use to bake a ton of sugar cookies and they got to invite thier friend , kids from the neighbor hood and then in the afternoon I had them decorate them and deliver them to the older people in our area, and of course there was thier cookies for Santa too!!
I just made a bunch of tubs of different colored frosting , sprinkles, candies ect the list could be endless . It was fairly cheap and entertained them for a long time , Hope this give you some ideas

Make Cookies… That is always fun. You can buy the bag of Sugar Cookie mix and Gingerbread mix at the grocery store and get red hots, red fruit rollups for a scarf and place little pieces of licorice for the eyes and vanilla frosting and any other yummy thing to decorate with. Make sure to have plenty of white frosting so you can color it to frost green Christmas trees. Have fun.. Eat one for me?

Those are perfect ages to make Christmas cookies or candy. I know that it isn’t a “craft” per se, but they will enjoy making the cookies and having the adults ooh and aah over them. There are many easy recipes that don’t require any special tools (like cookie cutters) that you can just roll into balls and dip into colored sugar or sprinkles. Or chocolate chip cookies with the red and green Christmas chips that are sold this time of year. Easy to make, very little mess, and who doesn’t love cookies?
As for candy, fudge is very easy to make. Even the 8 year old can make peanut butter fudge in the microwave.
