I need to know how many pounds a cut christmas tree weighs. I realize there are different types, so an approximation is fine.

It really could vary. I helped one of the guys deliver a 14 footer last year and it was just too heavy. I have seen 9 footers that had butts like elephant legs and they were too heavy, but there are other slimmer ones that weigh 25 to 45 pounds. Just like us humans, there are all kinds. They are a lot lighter when they are drier, but that is not what you want .
