July 12th, 2010Which Theme Should I Use On My Christmas Tree This Year?
This is my first Christmas in charge of the decorations and I can’t decide how to decorate. Everything will be decorated around the trees theme. I have a red kitchen, a beige living room and my house is very open. I can’t decide if i want to do a multi colored tree that is fun and youthful (I’m 22), try to pull off a blue “snowy” decor or a more traditional one with red and cream. What do you think?

Every year since my boyfriend and I have been together (this will be our 4th Christmas & we’re both 22 as well) we’ve always done a “themed” tree. My personal favorite of the several we have done was blue and silver. We used 2 different blues: navy, and a lighter cerulean color which contrasted great with the silver. The trick to creating a themed tree is not to use too many different types of ornaments. The statement is made with the colors, so you don’t have to go crazy buying 50 different blue ornaments. We bought the traditional ball ornaments, and used about 75% blue with a few silver glittery ones here and there. We used traditional silver tinsel and found some cool icicle ornaments in silver too.
We got SO many compliments, it made a statement without being over the top and everyone loved it. It had modern and traditional features, so it ended up working perfectly. Plus the blue and silver color scheme would allow you to decorate the rest of the room in silver, blue, white, etc.
Good Luck!

I am a family Christmas tree fan. When I grew up dad put the tree up with multi lights, red garland and we went nuts with the ornaments, every colour some where homemade, and it looked like it belonged to a family, and a family decorated it together. Which they had, but I always liked that.

Snowy
Its the PERFECT way to represent christmas time and the snowy white moisture that falls from the sky. For example you could get fake snow and sprinkle it on your tree, and possibly put some around the bottem. Then you could get some snowflake ornaments to go on the tree, or you could even make them. If you want to, you could make snowflakes and put glitter on then hang them from the ceiling with string.
Happy Holidays!
